Regional Selectmen Meeting
May 2, 2007
5:00 PM Senior Center
Attendance: Chairman David White, Selectman Joseph Sullivan, Selectman Kimberly Ferguson and Selectman Jumonville.
Chairman White opened the meeting at 5:03PM.
Representatives from each Town in attendance reported their community’s position regarding the budget for the Wachusett Regional School District. The debate centered on the request by the member Towns to have the District reduce its assessments by $500,000 as opposed to the Districts offer to meet that amount in 2 steps with the last $200,000 contingent on receipt of additional state aid.
Selectman Jumonville left the meeting to participate in the candidate’s debate.
After considerable general discussion, communities caucused individually to consider the District’s revised offer which added more assurance to the contingent amount. Based on the revised offer, Selectman Ferguson offered the following motion.
To accept the tentative offer of the Wachusett Regional School District Superintendent to reduce member Town assessments from the letter of April 25 in the following way:
$300,000 immediate reduction (including the use of $200,000 of in E&D)
$200,000 further reduction contingent upon the District receiving additional state aid.
The motion was seconded by Selectman Sullivan and adopted on a 3 – 0 vote.
The Regional Selectman’s meeting concluded at 7:20. Holden Board members continued to meet with the Finance Committee regarding the Water and Sewer budget. Selectman White left the meeting to attend the meeting of the Public Safety Building Committee at approximately 8:15PM.
Selectman O’Brien joined the discussion at approximately 9:00PM after the candidate’s debate.
General discussion was held regarding the FY 07 & FY 08 Water Sewer Budget.
The meeting adjourned at 9:45PM.
